At GTFO we feel the growth of these amazing athletes means growth for the families, growth for our volunteers working with them, growth for us and growth for all of you. This is our mission and this is why we spread the love with our badges of honor (GTFO Hats). If you believe in our programs and the process we are expanding, please buy a hat and give back!

THE GTFO PROCESS

Week by Week:

PRIOR TO WEEK 1

They're assigned their adventure/life skills coach. Collaboration with the parents/guardians. We discuss their kids strengths, weaknesses, fears, goals, and much more. Most importantly, we discuss the custom goal board GTFO provides to each family and athlete. This board comes with monthly sheets that cover habits, at home workouts, short term goals, long term goals, and application sheet on how to put forth the effort to reach those goals.

WEEK 1

In week 1 we do a mental/physical endurance test to see where their mental toughness is at. We test this by going out to celery the fields 1:1 and hiking a steep loop as long as we can and to see how long each participant can safely push themselves or until they say they are tired. Without the athletes knowing we track each person distance, how long they went for, how many breaks they had to take, etc. All measurable goals that they can conquer in the week ahead.

WEEK 2

In week 2 we do an emotional/mental test. We try taking on something they fear or have never done before. This challenge is about overcoming mental barriers, but not from physical exhaustion like the previous week, but from emotions. On this day we coach and help to see how willing they are to overcome that mental barrier or their willingness to something new. This is agreed upon by both the parent and the coach. Once again we track their experience, we record their feelings and the emotions they are feeling in that very moment. We use this to fuel them and motivate them to work towards overcoming that in the weeks ahead.

WEEK 3

In week 3 we begin their 1:1 training at our partners gym (Definition Fit). The 1:1 training is executed once a week leading up to the adventure. Our exceptional adventure athletes will experience an inclusive environment and have the opportunity to have partner workouts with 1 of our Kindness Krew Volunteers.

WEEK 4

In week 4 we jump on a call with the parents and athlete to go over the next moths habit sheets, goal sheets, home workouts etc. Next, we get the group together and start our bi-weekly adventure workshops. These workshops focus on teaching them the skills needed to execute their upcoming adventure.

  • Mountain biking
  • Road biking
  • Hiking at the Celery Fields or Myakka
  • Rowing at Benderson
  • Balance course at Treeumph
  • Pool and open water swims
  • Beach runs

Our Kindness Krew Volunteers will be at everyone one of these events to support our adventure athletes, creating an inclusive environment.

WEEK 5

In week 5 the home workouts begin! The adventure athletes are responsible for completing these workouts on their own and will be available to them on their goal boards. We delegate one of them being done via zoom with a Kindness Krew volunteer. Our coaches check in with them and the parents once a week when they seem them in person to hold them accountable and teach them the power of keeping promises to yourself and following through.

WEEK 6&7

Weeks 6 & 7 are dedicated to pushing them in the gym and at home to get into a routine and apply maximum effort when working out. We also get the group together to take on another adventure workshop to continue developing their skills and toughness!

WEEK 8

In week 8 we do a “mental/physical” challenge again. Except this time we bring out our Kindness Krew Volunteers and we take them all hiking together. The goal is to exceed the data we took in week 1. Before we start the hike we sit them all down and go over each persons data from week 1 and motivate them to exceed that. During this challenge we prove that having a set goal to beat, having a support system around you, and having your fellow adventure athletes with you is a powerful thing. On this day they prove to themself that they can overcome that voice in their head that tells them to stop when things get tough.

WEEK 9

In week 9 we take on the same mental/emotional challenges they faced in week 2. Just like we did in week 8, we will have their support system there. these are the most powerful weeks in the process because it's in these moments challenges they get their first taste of self belief, growth, and purpose. Our coaches, our volunteers, and their fellow adventure athletes will be there to motivate them to overcome that fear.

WEEK 10

With their adventure getting closer, we get the group together to watch a movie/documentary on adventure and show them the fun exciting things they will be taking on so they can visually prepare for the exciting task ahead! After the movie/documentary we work on a writing assignment with them to have them express their feelings, excitement, nervousness, and much more. The purpose is to show them that all these feelings are good and a part of the process to reaching a goal.

WEEK 11-16

Starting in week 11 we don't introduce any new activities. We want to instill the importance of consistency and persistence. We continue their 1:1 training, group adventure workshops, goal boards, home workouts, and more.

TIME TO ADVENTURE

The time has arrived. Our staff, the adventure athletes, and their parents/guardians will drive or fly as a team to the planned adventure. The location can change yearly, until we reach our goal of building our own adventure facility. This adaptive program will involve both the adventure athletes and the parents. Giving the parents the ability to have a deserving vacation and the ability to witness first hand, their kids overcoming obstacles, defying the odds, and experiencing unbelievable things.

We will have a GPS tracking system set up so you can come to the GTFO website and watch the progress they are making on each day of their adventure.

Don't worry, you won't miss out on the fun. We gift all our customers and donors with an unbelievable production piece by our partner 1836. This is our gift to you. We want you to be a part of their process, but most importantly we want you to experience the moment they worked so hard for, the mission you believed in, and the cause you invested energy and money into. Thank you!

POST ADVENTURE CELEBRATION

After the adventure we will hold a celebration at Community day's facility. This event will be for the athletes and our Kindness Krew members. We will have plaques or medals to hand out to each adventure athlete and they will have prepared a speech for those that attend. They deserve to be celebrated daily, but today we will do everything in our power to make them feel a part of this community and a part of the GTFO family.

POST ADVENTURE PROTOCOL

After the adventure we will work first hand with our job placement partners. We will continue to coach them for an allotted time as they transition into job training since we have built a bond and trust with them. This is an exciting moment for our staff and what we have been working towards all along. Helping these exceptional individuals build the life skills and confidence needed to continue to conquer goals and live a purposeful life.

THE GTFO MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

They will forever be a part of GTFO and will hold the title “adventure athlete” for life.

All of our graduating adventure athletes will have the option to join a mentorship program where they get to interact and help the next years adventure athletes prepare for their adventure. This expands our supports system and continues to build on our inclusive future.

Our program and process is about building hope and motivation for the world by assisting these individuals into completing amazing task! This unbelievable adventure will show the world that we are all capable of great things. We just need the self belief, the work ethic, and the support system to do so.

GTFO is creating life changing opportunities that these individuals will carry the rest of their lives. The rest of process below shows the dedication our team has to expanding the opportunities for these individuals in all aspects of their life!

This is where our lead partner NXT Generation comes into play!

NXT Generation: “A huge part of what we do focuses on health-minded programs exclusively for individuals with exceptionalities. We work tirelessly to find meaningful ways to enhance their wellbeing and quality of life. We put a strong emphasis on mentality through movement. By instilling the importance of physical activity and a growth mindset TODAY, we will set the groundwork for a mindfully motivated individual TOMORROW.”

GTFO & NXT Generation work with the parents and the individuals (adventure athletes) to find a strategic plan that fits the athlete and is going to lead them through a successful journey.

Time to instill purpose driven goals, overcoming obstacles, and hard work!

During this phase, these individuals with exceptionalities officially become GTFO adventure athletes as they work with us and NXT Generation for the next 12-16 weeks. Some of the growth minded activities they go through are:

  • 1:1 Training
  • Group Camps & Group Training
  • At Home Goal Boards
  • Monthly Zoom Call Check Ins
  • Informative Adventure Activities
  • And So much More!

We spend so much time in this phase because building trust and respect with these individuals is key to a successful adventure. It’s in this phase that they build confidence, open mindedness, and the resilience needed to succeed.

The moment we’ve all been working for! All the hard work has paid off and it’s time for these exceptional athletes and their parents to reap the rewards. It is on this adventure we see fears overcome, goals being exceeded, and the opportunity to prove to themselves and others that they can do anything they set their mind too when given the tools.

On this unforgettable adventure we will be going through multiple experiences ranging from social skills, team building, and adventuring! Here are just a handful of the experiences these individuals and their parents get to experience:

  • Canoe/Kayak/Raft
  • Challenge Course
  • Cycling
  • Hiking
  • Rock Climbing
  • And Much More

After working months to grow mentally, physically, and emotionally they will experience the power a single moment can have on you. When they stand on top of a mountain, when they battle the rapids in the water, or as they complete an adventure challenge course, they will experience that feeling of purpose. This part of the process can only be earned not given and once it is earned it can never be taken away from you.

This moment brings growth to our adventure athletes, the parents, the staff, our amazing volunteers and YOU. Everyone benefits from this cause, this mission, and this purposeful moment. Without you, this moment wouldn't be possible. so thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Our goal is to push these amazing individuals to graduate through our adventure program giving them the mental fortitude and life skills to live a purposeful life beyond the adventure trip. We will help them use the life skills they learned in this program to excel socially, within their career, and more.

We will work along side our partners to create and expand job opportunities for individuals with exceptionalities (disabilities). One in particular we are looking forward to working with is Rise and Nye's in Sarasota Fl. A coffee and ice cream shop that trains and hires individuals with exceptionalities.

At GTFO we feel the growth of these amazing athletes means growth for the families, growth for our volunteers working with them, growth for us and growth for all of you.

TOGETHER LET'S ENHANCE THE LEVEL OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR THESE INDIVIDUALS
