So there I am, clueless and way too confident standing at the top of the French Press run in Aspen Snowmass. I start to remember cool collected Craig the instructor, (you know those guys that hand you your bike rental, tell you where the brakes are, and end the transaction with an unsatisfying "good luck") asking "So, you guys ever been downhill mountain biking?" What he was really asking was "Have you ever balanced on 2 tires while flying down a mountain over rocks and in between trees at 30+ miles per hour while strategically working the front and rear brakes just praying you somehow make it to the bottom alive?" **phew take a breath after that mouth full!**
The answer... "no, no we have not, CRAIG!"
Fast forward to me making my way down the fall line of the French Press run and I have to admit, I am feeling pretty damn good! I'm balanced on my feet, absorbing the bumps, leaning into some berms, and at this moment I’m feeling invincible. That feeling quickly fades as God decides to have a sense of humor... Next thing I know, I am flying over the handlebars, but luckily I broke my fall with my face (Don't worry I was wearing a helmet #safetyfirst)
In the creation of this story nobody was hurt....that bad.... and we all lived to experience another epic adventure!
